HISTORY OF HERBAL MEDICINAL PLANTS
India is the ancient treasure trove of immense knowledge of herbal medicinal plants.
Starting from the venerable Rishi Dhanvantari, the Hindu God Of Medicine, this vast field has always attracted the human mind and created curiosity towards the healing powers of herbs. Charaka Samhita (Charaka's collection), Sushruta Samhita (Sushruta's collection) & Vagbhatta's Astangahrdaya are extensive books on Ayurveda and the immense power of medicinal plants.
Due to India's history of outside invasions, much of this precious historical Indian medicinal knowledge has been lost. Thousands of manuscripts on medicinal plants, studied & researched at the Taxila and Nalanda universities of ancient India, were destroyed and mercilessly burnt.
The ‘pill happy’ modern generation is at risk of losing ancient herbal medicinal knowledge due to an overemphasis on ready-to-eat synthetic solutions. There is a crying need to transfer this treasure trove of ancient knowledge to future generations.
It requires an understanding of all those healing plants which have so far been searched, tested, and found fit in all respects for their efficacy in treating human beings.
Unknown to many, but experimented thousands of years back, we find plants offering us healing powers and providing rejuvenating benefits. Through photosynthesissis, plants accumulate micronutrients from the soil which in turn is used by humans in different forms i.e. through their roots, leaves, fruits, bark, etc.
Our Trust’s Learners will be thoroughly acquainted with the use of herbs in an intelligent, safe, and affordable manner.
